The Andalusian: Beautiful, Intelligent, Athletic
Rothrock Andalusians is dedicated to breeding the finest Black PRE Andalusians and Grey PRE Andalusians possible. We start with the best bloodlines from Spain (Yeguada Militar, Escalera, Cardenas, Terry) and the US (Garrison, Tina Cristiani Veder) to create horses that are destined to become true living legends and soul mates.
We are located on a lush 160 acre farm in central Illinois about 80 miles South-West of Chicago. We currently stand 3 carefully selected stallions that are pure Spanish (Pura Raza Espanola). Santiago: 16.2hh, Grey, National Grand Champion Senior Stallion; Fandango Del Sol: 16.1hh, Pure Black, currently undefeated in Halter and Dressage competition; and RC Duque: 16.1hh (and still growing), Grey, National Res. Champion 2 year old Spanish Colt with a Gold Medal Best Movement Award. Our band of 14 broodmares include National Grand Champion Senior Mares Clavija III and Millenia TCV, our pure black Muneca TCV and Jalea D, and many other National and Regional Champions that produce foals with exceptional conformation, temperament, and movement.

We started with Santiago in 2003, and truly, this horse did change our life. As our first PRE Andalusian, and our first stallion, we learned how incredible and unique this breed truly is. Centuries of breeding for intelligence, bravery, and beauty are obvious. |

We were recently lucky enough to find and purchase one of the finest Pure Black PRE Andalusian stallions, Fandango Del Sol. He is a rare example of a breeding program that has not sacrificed quality and purity of the breed to achieve pure black color. Fandango is also known as the "International Supermodel" of horses. He has been photographed by the world famous photographer Bob Langrish, and featured on magazine covers and horse products all over the globe.

Over 80% of the PRE Andalusians are grey, 15% Bay, and less than 5% are black. Of the less than 5% of the black Andalusians in the US, even fewer are pure black with no white markings. If you want a pure black, (which we were not willing to compromise for our breeding program), you don't want to see any white markings. If there is white, such as a star or a sock, there is a 60% chance of having a white marking 40% larger in the next generation.

We offer live cover or shipped semen for your convenience, as well as on-site mare care with turn out, an on call veterinarian, and a state of the art laboratory for stallion collection, artificial insemination, and embryo transfer. |
